URGENT UPDATE: New COVID-19 Travel Requirements for people travelling to Spain

URGENT UPDATE

New Requirements for visitors to Spain

Spain has updated the requirements for visitors entering the country from England. They have not only updated their requirements based on Covid-19, but have also updated some other, more general checks.

Requirements for Covid-19 testing when entering Spain:

Visitors will need to prove they meet the Covid-19 entry requirements
(bear in mind that these requirements do not apply to children under the age of 12).

Visitors will need to prove one of the following:

A medical certificate or recovery record

A medical certificate or recovery record showing recovery from Covid-19 within the last six months

Proof of Vaccination

This must meet the Spanish authorities validity requirements. View their requirements

An antigen test

An antigen test (with certification) taken within 24 hours of departure.

A negative PCR test

Taken within 72 hours prior to departure

Other requirements to enter Spain

Those entering the country will also need to have the following:

  • proof of a return or onward ticket,
  • enough money for their stay
  • proof that they have somewhere to stay in Spain. (This includes proof of hotel booking confirmations, proof of address if visiting your own property (e.g, a second home), or an invitation from your host or proof of their address if staying with a third party, friends or family.)

The Foreign Office advice also states: “You may be subject to additional checks at the point of entry including a temperature check, visual health assessment, or testing on arrival.”

Don’t need a Travel Test, but want peace of mind?

Although many countries do not require pre-entry PCR testing, holiday excursions and events may require you to take a lateral flow test. You can buy lateral flow kits in packs of 5, 10, and 20 from our online store from only £9.99.
